Teacher-Student Relationship at Secondary Schools in Bangladesh: Perception Attitude and Outcome

Guru-Shishya relationship is a sacred and traditional resource in the Indian subcontinent. Now it is almost in a moribund position in terms of pedagogical and social context at the secondary schools in Bangladesh. The inner weaknesses of the institutions are accelerating the supplementary tutoring known as the coaching centre and teachers' private tutoring. The lack of knowledge and skills about the multiple roles of teachers, combined with their traditional attitudes, is hindering the development of smooth relationships. Due to their commercial attitude, the rift in relationship among the students is now a marked line. Consequently, the positive perception of guardians has declined, as schools are facing challenges in transmitting quality education to their children. The positive interaction and prosocial behaviors of teachers are crying need to transmit knowledge and interpersonal skills. This research book has attempted to find the multiple causal relations of decaying teacher-student relationships.
